Climbing week in Italia - Finale Ligure

Italy - Europe

Finale Ligure, Italie - Finale Ligure, Italia
26.09 - 03.10.2020
With over 3000 climbing routes in all levels of difficulty, Finale is one of the most versatile climbing areas in Europe. But climbing in Finale is much more than just difficulty levels and well-known names of famous routes and climbers.
Very close to the hustle and bustle of the Riviera, but also far away again in the wooded valleys of the Ligurian hinterland, where time seems to stand still. Sea, sun, mild climate, gelati, espressi - climbers, what more do you want?

Your advantages at a glance:

- Accommodation in a comfortable Bed & Breakfast with double rooms and excellent breakfast in the heart of Finalborgo
- Joint return trip from Bellinzona by bus from the mountaineering school
- large selection of sport climbing routes
- Dinner in the cosy restaurants in Finale Ligure and Finalborgo

Finale Ligure, the name sounds final: Arrived at the finish line, at the climax, now there's no more to go on. In fact, Finale is considered one of the best climbing areas in Europe, if not the whole world. Rightly so, I think: In the beautiful hills around the village of Finale Ligure there are endless rock massifs scattered. Each massif is a natural monument in itself, each massif offers wonderful and varied routes, each massif is an incredibly picturesque gem. And then the rock! Nowhere else in the world is it so full of holes, so grippy, so beautifully shaped. By chance Finale is also located on the Ligurian coast. Right by the sea, sandy beach, cafés under palm trees. God had to be a climber :-)

We can choose between the areas Rocca di Perti, Monte Sordo, San Antonino, Monte Cucco, Rocca di Corno and the areas in Oltre Finale such as Val Varatella and Val Nimbalto etc.

Saturday: Meeting point on Saturday at the railway station in Chur at 08.50 or in Bellinzona at 10.30. Together we will take the bus of the mountaineering school to Finale Ligure and move into our accommodation. Afterwards first climbing in one of the countless climbing gardens. Dinner in Finale or Finalborgo.

Sunday to Friday: Together we will determine our climbing area for the day and the program. The areas Rocca di Perti, Monte Sordo, San Antonino, Monte Cucco, Rocca di Corno, Val Varatella and Val Nimbalto with their different climbing gardens are all worth one or more visits. You can reach them from Finale Ligure by bus from the Mountain Sports School. The climbs are versatile and varied. Climbing gardens with sport climbing routes alternate with multi-pitch routes. Depending on the climbing area, a short or even shorter ascent leads us through a wild and intact natural landscape to our dream rocks. After climbing we refresh ourselves by swimming in the sea and/or enjoy a gelati and a fine espresso in the bars of Finale Ligure. In the evening we visit the restaurants in Finalborgo or in Finale Ligure.

Saturday: After breakfast we return via Milano to Bellinzona. End of the climbing week and individual return home.

Apart from visiting the most rewarding climbing areas we do not forget the training. During the week we will cover various topics such as abseiling, belaying, setting up belay places, improving individual climbing techniques, etc. Apart from climbing, we have the opportunity to discover the bays of the Riviera and the medieval towns of Finalborgo and Castelbianco, or to relax by swimming.
