Introduction to technique and tactics on multi pitch tours. Course objective: to be able to move safely on a long route, both in pre- and post-climbing as well as in abseiling.
Intended Program
Saturday: Meeting point at 09.00 at the Sargans train station or by appointment. Drive to one of the numerous climbing areas in the vicinity, where we will briefly review the most important basic knowledge and terms to make sure that all participants use the same safety standards and language. Afterwards we use the time to set up belay places in theoretical and a lot of practical work, use of cleats and friends, abseiling, planning and climbing of multirope routes, belaying techniques, improvement of climbing technique, lead climbing training.
In this way, we are gradually getting closer to our course goal of knowing the rope and climbing techniques needed to climb independently and safely in alpine well-secured multi-rope-length routes and to abseil back down again.
In the evening we will spend the night in a mountain inn.
Sunday: Depending on the conditions and the skills of the participants, we will climb a multi-pitch route today in one of the following areas: Brüggler, Mattstock, Rätikon, Seehorn and possibly Ticino. We can deepen and apply what we learned the day before and enjoy the good rock quality in all areas. At the end of the tour, we drive back to Sargans together and finish the course.
