Piz Morteratsch, 3751 m: crossing Boval hut - Tschierva hut

Switzerland - Europe

Piz Morteratsch, 3751 m, Graubünden, Schweiz - Piz Morteratsch, 3751 m, Graubünden, Schweiz
24.06 - 23.09.2023
The Piz Morteratsch is the most beautiful panoramic mountain in the region and stands in the middle of the Bernina massif. The view of the famous Bianco ridge on Piz Bernina and the view of the many spectacular peaks in the "Alpine Festival Hall" rightly make it a much-visited summit destination.
Piz Morteratsch shows two completely different faces. On the oval side, the summit ice field forms a mighty ice balcony with two distinct rocky ridges. From the Tschiervaseite, the summit is less impressive and exclusively rocky. We climb Piz Morteratsch via the normal route from Chamanna da Boval and descend to Chamanna da Tschierva.

Your advantages at a glance:

- Ascent of Piz Morteratsch via the normal route from Chamanna da Boval and with descent to Chamanna da Tschierva
- varied route in rock and ice
- maximum of 2 guests per guide for optimal care and maximum safety
- spectacular panoramic and deep view
- we are at home in Graubünden, we know our way around here!

Program

Programme: Ascent of Piz Morteratsch, 3751 m, via the normal route from the Boval side and with descent to Chamanna da Tschierva.

Day 1: Meeting point at 6.00 p.m. at the Chamanna da Boval, 2495 m. Dinner together and discussion of the tour.

Day 2: The first part of the ascent leads us over tracks to the foot of the rocks below the Fuorcla da Boval, 3346 m. The climbing is stimulating. The climbing is stimulating, and in the upper part the rock is firm and already well tempered by the morning sun. After crossing the Fuorcla, the route continues over the ridge to the increasingly steep but easily passable Vadrettin da Tschierva. The steep summit ice field leads us to the 3751 m high summit. We will be thrilled by the view! After the descent over the steep first part of the glacier, the steepness subsides at the level of Fuorcla da Boval. At the end of the glacier, the steep path in the rock and scree leads us to the Chamanna da Tschierva, 2584 m. Final drink together on the terrace and individual descent to the valley.

Ascent time approx. 6 hours, total walking time approx. 9 hours.
