UIAA VII-, VII, VII+
Enjoy the nature and climbing mainly in one-pitch routes in varied climbing areas. Climbing experience in difficulty level 5a with experience in lead-climbing desired.
Program
Climbing holidays and discovery of the most beautiful climbing areas of San Vito lo Capo: Pizzo Monacco, Cattedrale nel deserto, Calamancina, Grotta dei cavalli, Salinella, Crown of Aragon and others.
The climbing areas in Sicily are varied and spread over the whole island. Whether by the sea, with sea view or hidden inland, each of the areas has its charm and its peculiarities. In addition to climbing, typical bars and restaurants in the small, well-preserved villages invite you to linger and the sea is never far away. The beach of San Vito lo Capo with its crystal-clear, turquoise-blue sea was voted the most beautiful of Italy in 2011. As usual with our climbing trips, we attach great importance to excellent cuisine. Local pubs with typical Sicilian delicacies in San Vito lo Capo give us ample opportunity to discover the varied cuisine.
Saturday: Meeting point on Saturday in Zurich Airport depending on the timetable. Flight to Sicily, where we pick up our rental car at the airport of Palermo. Drive to our hotel and depending on the time already a first climbing. Dinner together in one of the numerous good restaurants.
Sunday to Friday: Together we will set our climbing area for the day and the program. The areas of Pizzo Monaco, Cattedrale del Deserto, Calamancina, Grotta del Cavallo, Scogliera di Salinella, Crown of Aragon and others with their various routes are all worth one or more visits. The short journey takes place from our hotel with the rental car. The climbs are varied and varied. Single-length routes dominate in the varied rock with holes, sometimes also on sinters and stalactites. Some lighter multi-pitch routes offer a nice change. Depending on the climbing area, a short or even shorter ascent takes us through a wild and intact natural landscape to our dream rocks. After climbing, we refresh ourselves while bathing in the sea and / or enjoy a gelati in the bars. In the evening we visit the restaurants in San Vito lo Capo.
Saturday: After breakfast return to Switzerland. Drive to the airport, return the rental car and fly to Zurich. End of the climbing week and individual journey home. In addition to visiting the most rewarding climbing areas, we do not completely forget the training. During the week we deal with various topics such as abseiling, securing, setting up of pitches, improving the individual climbing technique etc. After climbing we have the opportunity to visit the beautiful town of Erice and Palermo or to relax while bathing. An excursion to the nature reserve Riserva dello Zingaro is also worthwhile.
