Enjoy the nature and climbing mainly in one-pitch routes in varied climbing areas. Climbing experience in difficulty level 5b with experience in lead-climbing desired.
Climbing holidays and discovery of the most beautiful climbing areas in San Vito lo Capo: Pizzo Monacco, Cattedrale nel deserto, Calamancina, Grotta dei cavalli, Salinella, Crown of Aragon and others.
The climbing areas in Sicily are varied and spread all over the island. Whether by the sea, with a sea view or hidden inland, each of the areas has its charm and peculiarities. In addition to climbing, typical bars and restaurants in the small, well-preserved villages invite you to linger, and the sea is never far away. The beach of San Vito lo Capo with its crystal clear, turquoise blue sea was voted the most beautiful in Italy in 2011. As usual on our climbing trips, we place great emphasis on excellent cuisine. The local restaurants with typical Sicilian delicacies in San Vito lo Capo offer us ample opportunity to discover the varied cuisine.
Saturday: Meeting point at Zurich airport depending on flight schedule. Flight to Sicily, where we pick up our rental car at Palermo airport. Drive to our hotel and depending on the time available already a first climbing. Dinner together in one of the many good restaurants.
Sunday to Saturday: Together we will decide on our climbing area for the day and the programme. The areas Pizzo Monaco, Cattedrale nel Deserto, Calamancina, Grotta del Cavallo, Scogliera di Salinella, Crown of Aragon and others with their different routes are all worth one or more visits. The short approach is always by rental car from our hotel. The climbs are versatile and varied. Single-pitch routes dominate in varied rock with holes, occasionally on sinter and stalactites. Some easier multi-pitch routes offer a nice change. Depending on the climbing area, a short or even shorter approach leads us through a wild and intact natural landscape to our dream rocks. After climbing, we refresh ourselves by swimming in the sea and/or enjoying a gelati in the bars.
In the evening we visit the restaurants in San Vito lo Capo.
Sunday: After breakfast return journey to Switzerland. Drive to the airport, return of the rental car and flight to Zurich. Conclusion of the climbing week and individual journey home.
Besides visiting the most rewarding climbing areas, we do not completely forget the training. During the week we will cover various topics such as abseiling, belaying, setting up belay stations, improving individual climbing technique, etc. After climbing, we have the opportunity to visit the beautiful towns of Erice and Palermo or to relax by swimming. A trip to the Riserva dello Zingaro nature reserve is also an option.
